Admissions
Our thorough enrollment process ensures that every student at William's School is in the best possible environment to meet his or her educational, behavioral, and therapeutic needs. We understand how valuable these years are, so we work hard to create learning environments that will challenge and support your students in all aspects of their education.
Getting Enrolled
Through a school tour, Zoom interview, onsite explore visit, and 2 trial day visits, you’ll get to know more about our school and to be able to match your student with the classroom, peers, teachers and therapists that will suit their needs and help them grow. Our interdisciplinary team of School Director, BCBA, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Teacher will observe and evaluate the accurate placement in a classroom and the therapeutic services that might be recommended for your child. Collaboration is an essential part of William's model and we feel that all team members are essential in this enrollment decision. We want your child to have access to the education and services that are best fit for them, so we only accept students who we feel will benefit from treatment and education at William’s.
Once Enrolled
Once enrolled, we will work with you as a collaborative team to customize your child’s educational and therapeutic program to her or his specific needs. While we possess the expertise needed to build an effective program for students, parental involvement and communication are the vital ingredients to make our students successful. We value that parents know their students better than anyone, and parental feedback and direction are essential in all decisions we make here at William's School.
STEP-BY-STEP
Enrollment Process
Step 1
Getting Started
Attend a Tour
Here, you will meet our school director, see the classrooms and learn more about our therapy programs. Tours are typically held at 9:00 AM the second Tuesday of the month. Please check the time on the calendar.
Please click this link to view our dates for the tour and to register.
Complete the Application
Applications are available via email at the end of the tour for caregivers who are interested. Once completed, parents should return the application via email, by mail, or by dropping the completed application at the school.
Zoom Visit
Once we have received your application, our school director will reach out to you to schedule a quick virtual visit. This opportunity to meet face to face with your student directly helps us put a face to the paperwork and better understand what type of classroom will be the best fit for your student.
Explore Visit
Once a space is open, your application is reviewed, and the school director will contact you to schedule a Zoom interview visit. This is a 30-45 minute Zoom meeting that allows the School Director to see the student in their home environment, answer any additional questions, and determine the best possible classroom placement. Once a space is open you will be contacted to set up an “explore” visit. This is an unstructured time where your child can see the school, meet the classroom and therapy teams, explore the classrooms, and play on the playground. Siblings and family members are welcome to attend. This also serves as an informal meeting for parents to discuss questions about the program and share vital information about what you value most for your child’s experience. After this visit we will reach out to you about our enrollment decision moving forward.
Half Day Visit
This is a demand-free visit where your student will be encouraged to join the class at his or her comfort level. For some students, this may be just playing in the same space as other children, other students are comfortable to participate in all of the class activities.
Full-Day Visit
This is a full day visit of the classroom that allows your student to experience what a day at William's School will be like. This is also a vital visit for our teachers to know what supports or items to have ready for your student's first day of school.
Step 2
Admission & Planning
After each step in the process, parents, students, and our collaborative team will all agree that they’d like to move forward to the next step. If at any point anyone feels that this is not the right time, setting, or experience for the student, we will pause admission.
If your student is admitted into our programs, we will set up a start date, discuss therapy recommendations, plan assessments, coordinate with other treatment providers, and most importantly, establish priorities that are most important for each student and his or her family.
Step 3
Stay Connected
Assessment Starts
Once your child started attending, we will begin assessment.
Assessment Completion
After 6-8 weeks for the assessment to be completed, we will schedule an initial meeting to develop your student's treatment plan and educational goals.
Communication
Your teacher and therapists will communicate with you on a daily or weekly basis about what your student is working on and how their day has been.
Meetings and Reports
We will meet annually in October to revisit goals, treatments, and needs. Progress reports on all goals will be sent home three times a year.
