William's School

As a parent of a highly functioning autistic child, who has aggressive manifestations, we were thrilled to find WCS when my son was struggling to succeed in Public School.  Our goal was to help him learn strategies to deal with his anxieties in order to control the manifestations that were preventing him from being successful.  We communicated to Kara when he was admitted that our goal was to eventually reintegrate back into Public School.  WCS was the perfect environment for him.  The staff at WCS worked with him for 3 years and did an amazing job at preparing him to be successful in Public school.  Through continued patience, communication, evolving strategies to encourage more independent use of strategies and setting up a proper, safe environment they more than succeeded in preparing our son to re-enter the Public School environment.  Although reintegration was not easy at first, my son is now back in Public School and is experiencing a lot of success.  Not only did WCS prepare my son, but they also prepared me to be able to work with Public school in creating a proper learning environment for him to be successful.  They attended the ARD meetings to help set up proper reintegration strategies and supported us through the process of building a new working relationship with the school.  

 

We are grateful to have found such a caring and nurturing environment in which our son was able to grow and mature at WCS.  I would highly recommend WCS if your child is struggling to find success in traditional schools.  What you will find at WCS is unique to anything else available in the Austin area in that they do not turn students away for any type of difficulties and they embrace the uniqueness of each individual child, realizing that they do have the potential to succeed.
